Test indications:
Apolipoprotein A1 testing is rarely indicated. Apolipoprotein A1 levels are useful for the diagnosis of hypoalphalipoproteinemia, in patients with very low HDL cholesterol concentrations < 2.0 mmol/L by measurement. Patients with Apolipoprotein A1 values <0.1 g/L should be referred to a specialist lipid clinic.
