Clinical Information: |
20 mL of blood must be collected and clotted at 37°C for 1 hour.
Sample must be kept at 37°C and delivered within 1 hour. If more than one specimen is being collected for a cryoglobulin request, they must all be collected and clotted at 37°C. Please mark primary or aliquot tubes with "Clotted at 37°C". See instructions below. Tubes clotted at room temperature may suffer loss of analyte if cryoglobulins are present. Useful for evaluating patients with vasculitis, glomerulonephritis, and lymphoproliferative diseases. Also for evaluating patients with macroglobulinemia or myeloma in whom symptoms occur with cold exposure. |

Serum: 5.0 mL
Fasting specimen preferred. Clot sample at 37°C for 1 hour Serum ONLY collected in Serum tube WITHOUT barrier gel. Plasma specimens are not acceptable due to possible development of cryofibrinogen or heparin precipitable protein. Collection requirements:
