Clinical Information:
Evaluating thymic reconstitution in patients following hematopoietic cell transplantation, chemotherapy, immunomodulatory therapy, and immunosuppression.
Evaluating thymic recovery in HIV-positive patients on highly active antiretroviral therapy.
Evaluating thymic output in patients with DiGeorge syndrome or other cellular immunodeficiencies.
Assessing the naive T-cell compartment in a variety of immunological contexts (autoimmunity, cancer, immunodeficiency, and transplantation).
CD4 RTE cells are CD4+CD45RA+Naive T Cells that express the recent thymic emigrant marker CD31.

Blood: 4.0 mL
Pediatric Blood: 0.5 mL

A CBC and differential must also be performed.
Send specimens in original tube.  DO NOT ALIQUOT.
Specimens are required to be received in the HSC Immunology Laboratory weekdays and by 4:00 p.m. on Fridays.  It is recommended that specimen be received in laboratory within 24 hours.  Draw and package specimen as close to shipping time as possible.  Sample must be shipped at ambient temperature.
Samples arriving on the week-end may be cancelled.
