Clinical Information:
Testing is performed at St. Boniface Hospital Immunology Lab using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
 
The ELISA test kit provides a quantitative in vitro assay for human antibodies of the immunoglobulin class IgG against acetylcholine receptors in serum for the diagnosis of Myasthenia gravis.

Separate serum and ship refrigerated, or frozen if greater than 7 days from time of collection.

<0.40 nmol/L:                  negative
≥0.40 to <0.50 nmol/L:   borderline
≥0.50 nmol/L:                  positive
A negative result does not necessarily exclude autoimmune disease.  Positive results should not be interpreted in isolation and must be correlated with relevant clinical findings.
