Clinical Hematology consult required prior to collection or initiate hemostasis (Hematopathologist) consult F140-80-48A.

Must specify which assays required with this profile on requisition. 


Orderable drugs include: Heparin, low molecular weight Heparins (Enoxaparin, Dalteparin, Tinzaparin), Danaparoid, Fondaparinux and Apixaban.

Specimen Required:
Plasma: 1.0 mL
Pediatric Plasma: 1.0 mL

Spin sample once.  Aliquot plasma into another tube.  Spin sample again and aliquot the plasma into another tube.  Freeze sample at -20°C and then ship to HSC. 

Stability (except Apixaban): 4 hours unspun at room temperature.


Stability (Apixaban): 24 hours unspun at room temperature.

Samples and original requisition are to be forwarded to the Hemostasis lab regardless of number of tubes drawn or volumes. 
 
  • Patient's drug type and dosage/last dose must be identified on the requisition.
  • The dose/last dose information isn't mandatory for Apixaban.
