Clinical Information:
Ketoacidosis results from increased ketogenesis with the accumulation of ketone bodies. Ketone bodies consist of D-beta-hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate and acetone. In all forms of ketosis D-beta-hydroxybutyrate is the ketone body present in highest concentration.

Stability 8 hours at room temperature, 7 days refrigerated or frozen

Samples must be transferred to an aliquot tube and stored frozen if analysis will not be complete within 48 hours (#110--10-05 Serum / Plasma Separation Procedure & Transport)
