Test Indications:

Evaluation of patients with suspected inborn errors of amino acid metabolism.

Monitoring patients with aminoacidopathies.

Collection Devices:
Specimen Required:
Urine: 10.0 mL
Pediatric Urine: 1.0 mL

Collection Information: Urine should be prepared in two aliquots: one aliquot for Amino Acid testing frozen immediately and another aliquot refrigerated for creatinine testing.

 

Frozen urine in the original 100 mL container SHOULD NOT be SHIPPED. Only ship frozen aliquots. 


Specimen Stability:

Ambient: Not stable

Refrigerated: 4 hours (excluding thiol-containing amino acids. See CYSTINE, Urine - (U))

Frozen: 14 days at -20C or 60 days at -80C

Referral:
Urine: 10.0 mL
Pediatric Urine: 1.0 mL

Store and ship aliquots frozen. Thawed samples are not suitable for testing.

 

Additional aliquot must be shipped for urine creatinine.

 

Only ship frozen aliquots.
