Test Name:
ERYTHROPOIETIN - (S)
Test Code: ERYT
Clinical Information:
Test indications:
Erythropoietin levels may be useful in the assessment of primary or secondary polycythemia, and in assessing candidates for EPO replacement therapy (e.g. chronic renal failure). The assay cannot distinguish between endogenous and exogenous EPO.  This test is NOT recommended for the investigation of anemias; however anemia (from other causes) may affect erythropoietin levels.
