Blood is not to be centrifuged. Methemoglobin requests are assayed within the day. Blood samples may be stored at 4°C for 4 days for non-urgent requests. Specimens must NOT be frozen. HSC in-patients and acute samples will be dealt with directly by Respiratory. Any requests referred-in to HSC Clinical Chemistry - MS5 must be sent over without delay to SBGH Chemistry.
