Clinical Information:
Draw specimen just prior to a scheduled meal or feeding.  Include family history, clinical condition (asymptomatic or acute episode), diet, and drug therapy on requisition.

Plasma: 0.1 mL
Pediatric Plasma: 0.1 mL

Fill No Gel tube or microtainer with blood to applicable fill line.  Plasma that is hemolysed, lipemic, or icteric is acceptable.

Reference values for patient age for each of the acylcarnitine species will be included on reports along with interpretive comment.
