BLEEDING PROFILE WITHOUT PLATELET STUDIES - HSC - (P)

Clinical Information:

Clinical Hematology consult required prior to collection or initiate hemostasis (Hematopathologist) consult F140-80-48A. 


This profile includes closure times, von Willebrand studies, coagulation assessment (PT/INR, PTT, Fibrinogen) and factor assays.  


 



 

Collection Devices:
Specimen Required:


Plasma: 8.0 mL
Pediatric Plasma: 4.0 mL

Na Citrate Tubes:  Centrifuge according to lab's current process for coagulation sample.  Remove plasma with transfer pipette.  Place in plastic tube and re-centrifuge, capped.  Aliquot into four (4) plastic tubes, cap, and indicate "spun x 2" on labels.  Freeze immediately at -20°C.  Transport frozen on ice.

Test performed Monday-Friday 0745-1600, however, referred-in samples in Na Citrates tubes may be sent  frozen to the HSC lab at any time, attention: Haemostasis Bench.

Note: EDTA Tubes stable for 24 hours at room temperature, or 72 hours at 2-8°C. Process CBC offline at collection site and send report.  EDTA minimum is 1 mL. 

Note: Closure time assay only stable for 4 hours at room temperature recommended collection at HSC.


Note: Samples and original requisition are to be forwarded to the Hemostasis lab regardless of number of tubes drawn or volumes.
