Decreased C2 levels may be associated with increased susceptability to infection (especially pneumococcal infections), systemic lupus erythematosus-like disease, rashes, arthritis, nephritis, and with C1-Esterase deficiency.  Increased C2 levels ae associated with the acute phase response.

Serum: 1.0 mL

(From a fasting patient).
Referral:

Separate within 1 hour of collection and freeze as soon as possible.  Submission of duplicate aliquots is recommended in case repeat analysis is required, avoiding multiple freeze/thaw.  If the specimen thaws, it is unsuitable for analysis.
