HYPERCOAGULABILITY PROFILE

Clinical Information:
Clinical Hematology consult required prior to collection or initiate hemostasis (Hematopathologist) consult F140-80-48A.


This hypercoagulation panel includes: coagulation assessment, lupus inhibitor, thrombin time, anti-thrombin, plasminogen, protein C activity, activated protein C and free protein S.


 

Collection Devices:
Specimen Required:
Plasma: 8.0 mL
Pediatric Plasma: 4.0 mL

NaCitrate Tubes: Centrifuge according to lab's current process for coagulation sample.  Remove plasma with transfer pipette. Do not disturb buffy coat. Place in plastic tube and re-centrifuge, capped.  Remove plasma again leaving small portion and aliquot into four (4) plastic tubes, cap and indicate "spun x 2" on labels.  Freeze immediately at -20°C.  Transport frozen on ice.

Test performed Monday - Friday 0745 - 1600, however, referred-in samples in NaCitrate tubes may be sent frozen to the HSC lab at any time, attention:  Haemostasis Bench.
 

Note: This hypercoagulable profile includes all tests listed on requisition refer to Haemostasis Test Requisition (R250-10-12).


Note: Samples and original requisition are to be forwarded to the Hemostasis lab regardless of number of tubes drawn or volumes.
