ADVANCED B CELL PHENOTYPING - (B)

Clinical Information:
Screening for humoral or combined immunodeficiencies, including common variable immunodeficiency (CVID), hyper IgM syndrome, among others, where B-cell subset distribution information is desired.
Assessing B-cell subset reconstitution after hematopoietic cell (HCT) or bone marrow transplant.
Assessing B-cell subset reconstitution following recovery of B cells after B-cell-depleting immunotherapy.

Blood: 4.0 mL
Pediatric Blood: 0.5 mL

A CBC and differential must also be performed.
Send specimens in original tube.  DO NOT ALIQUOT.  Specimens are required to be received in the HSC Immunology Laboratory weekdays and by 4:00 p.m. on Fridays.  It is recommended that specimen be received in laboratory within 24 hours.  Draw and package specimen as close to shipping time as possible.  Sample must be shipped at ambient temperature.  Samples arriving on the week-end may be cancelled.

Testing includes relative distribution of subsets within the B cell population.  Subsets reported include:  Transitional, Plasmablasts, Naive, Memory, Marginal Zone, IgM only, Switched, and CD21+/-.
