Test Indications:  Testing for Manganese is for the monitoring of patients undergoing TPN nutritional support and it available to gastroenterologists, general and bariatric surgeons. Manganese is a trace element that is essential for fundamental processes such as enzymatic reactions. Nutritional guidelines recommend monitoring of manganese in patients receiving parenteral nutrition support. Measurement of whole blood manganese is more accurate than plasma or serum levels.
MUST specify "Manganese Whole Blood" on test request form when ordering.
