Laboratory: Clinical Immunology
Test Name:
ANTI-NUCLEAR ANTIBODY PROFILE - (S)
Test Code: REFLEX FROM HEP2 ONLY [NOT ORDERABLE]
Clinical Information:
Test Indications:
Evaluating patients with signs and symptoms of a connective tissue disease in whom the test for antinuclear antibodies is positive.  Testing is reflexed based on known pattern/antigen associations.

Testing is not useful in patients without demonstrable anti-nuclear antibodies.

Reference Values:
Reference Intervals: Negative
A negative result does not necessarily exclude autoimmune disease.  Positive results should not be interpreted in isolation and must be correlated with relevant clinical findings.

Method of Analysis:
The Line Immunoassay (LIA) provides qualitative in vitro determination of human autoantibodies of the IgG class to 15 different antigens nRNP, Sm, SS-A, Ro-52, SS-B, Scl-70, PM-Scl, Jo-1, CENP B, PCNA, nucleosomes, histones, ribosomal P-protein, AMA-M2 and DFS70 in serum.
