Clinical Information:
Clinical Hematology consult required prior to collection or initiate hemostasis (Hematopathologist) consult F140-80-48A. 

Coagulation Assessment order includes the following: PT, INR, PTT, Fibrinogen , Factor Assays, Other studies if needed (Lupus Anticoagulant, Thrombin Time).

Specimen Required:
Plasma: 2.0 mL
Pediatric Plasma: 1.0 mL

NaCitrate Tubes: Centrifuge according to lab's current process for coagulation sample.  Remove plasma with transfer pipette. Do not disturb buffy coat. Place in plastic tube and re-centrifuge, capped.  Remove plasma again leaving small portion and aliquot into four (4) plastic tubes, cap and indicate "spun x 2" on labels.  Freeze immediately at -20°C.  Transport frozen on ice.

WRHA: If sample is urgent, send plasma within 4 hours of collection at room temperature.
