| Test Name: |
Creatinine - epoc - (B)
Test Code:
CRB
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Clinical Information: |
Description: Creatinine is a normal metabolic by-product of muscle metabolism. It is primarily cleared by the kidneys. Measurement of creatinine in the blood therefore provides an indirect assessment of kidney function.
Creatinine measurements, along with age, sex, and height (pediatrics only) are used in estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) calculations.
An eGFR may be requested from the epoc test menu. The CKD-EPI (2009) equation is used for adults, while the Bedside-Schwartz equation is used for pediatric patients.
