Test Indications:
The detection and identification of calculi is important for the diagnosis of urinary system conditions. Knowledge of the specific composition of a passed or surgically removed calculus may aid in effectively treating lithiasis and
preventing future stone formation.
 
Urinary system calculi are usually composed of calcium oxalate, calcium oxalate mixed with calcium phosphate, ammonium magnesium phosphate, uric acid, or cystine.
