Clinical Information: |
Primary testing for Creatine biosynthesis and/or transporter deficiency is done on urine specimens. Follow-up investigations may require testing of plasma for Creatine and Guanidinoacetic Acid (GAA).
Test Approval Requirements: The “Clinical Details” section of the Biochemical Genetics Laboratory Requisition MUST be completed. The referral lab (Greenwood Genetic Center) will not perform testing if indication (symptomatic or specific findings) is not provided. Samples will be rejected if Clinical Details are not provided. |

Na Heparin Full Tube Collection is also acceptable.

Plasma: 1.0 mL
Pediatric Plasma: 1.0 mL

Referral: |
Collect blood in a Lithium Heparin or Sodium Heparin Tube. Centrifuge. Store and ship plasma frozen.

Blood must be centrifuged within 24 hours of draw. After centrifugation, plasma is stored frozen. Store and send frozen to HSC Clinical Chemistry MS5. Specimen is referred to Greenwood Genetic Center, Greenwood, SC.
