Nordiazepam is the active metabolite of the parent drug. Elimination half-life is 20-90 hours. Test Indications: Monitoring is rarely required as response to drug is monitored clinically by seizure control. Adverse effects of benzodiazepines in therapeutic doses include sedation, slurred speech, and ataxia. Respiratory depression/arrest may occur with large overdoses.
