Clinical Information:
Testing is performed at St. Boniface Hospital Immunology Lab using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
 
The ELISA test kit provides a quantitative in vitro assay for human autoantibodies of the IgA class against tissue transglutaminase in serum to support the diagnosis of gluten-sensitive enteropathy (celiac disease) and dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring.

A negative result does not necessarily exclude autoimmune disease.  Positive results should not be interpreted in isolation and must be correlated with relevant clinical findings.  A positive TTGA test will reflex to Endomysial antibody testing by Immunofluorescence (see Endomysial Antibody).
