More Information: |
A CBC test will automatically include a differential count. A slide review and/or Hematopathologist review will be performed if any abnormalities are determined (by the analyzer and/or by other standard criteria). This approach addresses most hematopoietic cell disorders.
Limitation: The standard CBC workup may not necessarily detect blood parasites, particularly if present in low numbers. Therefore if such a diagnosis is entertained, a specific request for blood parasites must be made, and the clinical information provided in the requisition. |
