Please note:
-A normal D-Dimer test, after clinical examination, in the setting of outpatients/ emergency departments, and using a validated algorithm (e.g. Well’s Score) can be helpful to exclude VTE in low risk patients. However, an elevated D-Dimer level can be found in wide variety of clinical settings, and is non-specific. For more information, see the Proper Utilizaton of the D-Dimer test in the Clinical Communication (CC) of November 27, 2019: https://sharedhealthmb.ca/health-providers/diagnostic-services/clinical-practice-changes/#54-hematology -Stable 24 hours at room temperature (spun or unspun). |
