Test Indications: Determining Plasma Chromium concentrations is for nutritional assessment of patients on total parenteral nutrition (TPN). Plasma concentration reflects day-to-day Chromium variations.
 
This test is not appropriate for the assessment of metal on metal implants. Please refer to Chromium Whole Blood (test code: CHRM).

Serum samples NOT acceptable. DO NOT use gel-separator collection tubes.

Special Processing: Separate plasma as soon as possible and transfer plasma to polypropylene vial. Store and send cold.

Separate within 30 minutes of collection and transfer plasma to metal-free container. Results may be falsely elevated if specimen is not separated within 30 minutes and/or hemolysis is present.  Store and ship frozen to In-Common Laboratories.
