Test performed at St. Boniface Hospital Immunology Lab.  Testing for TTG-G antibodies may be useful in patients with IgA deficiency suspected of having Celiac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis.  A positive result should not be used in isolation to diagnose Celiac disease.  Negative results may be obtained after several months of gluten-avoidance diet.

Separate serum.  Store and ship serum aliquot refrigerated.  Do NOT freeze.

A negative result does not necessarily exclude autoimmune disease.  Positive results should not be interpreted in isolation and must be correlated with relevant clinical findings.
